Into Darkness
I recently found an article talking about something J.J. Abrams did for a Star Trek fan for Christmas. A very heartfelt story. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/01/02/jj-abrams-star-trek-fan-dying-wish-upcoming-sequel_n_2397746.html
For awhile now I’ve been watching video game reviews by Ben “Yahtzee” Croshaw.Yahtzee stared his show, Zero punctuation by himself. He eventually became well-known and soon caught the attention of the website “The Escapist“. Yahtzee isn’t like any other game reviewer I’ve seen, he tends to smash video games a lot. But, most of the time all in good fun. He talks quite fast and has really witty comments about the game as well as the creators. Because of that, he does a good job and really keeps people’s attention. Some of his latest reviews are, Dragons Dogma, Diablo 3, Max Payne 3,and Prototype 2. Check him out it’s a great way to find more info on a game you thought of getting, or just getting a different point of view on one you already played.
I am not surprised at the success of Diablo 3′s sales. Blizzard did a great job hyping up the game, and waiting 12 years or so added a little to the excitement. I have recently read articles complaining about Blizzard and the products it makes, and for some reason it is hard for me to believe that ALL those who complained and attempted to boycott blizzard have not played Diablo 3. There was a lot of griping about only being able to play online, however, considering the success of the game, the few percent that are not playing and boycotting it are missing out on a great gaming experience. In my opinion.
Diablo 3 Initial Impressions (Mike, Joe, and Sarah)
Mike:
Diablo 3. Wow, we have been waiting a long time. Is it amazing new gameplay? Is it an MMO since it has an auction house? Is it dumbed down? No, No, and ummm no. The game, Like Starcraft 2, is a refinement on a working core of an already great game. Not the usual game company sequal but rather the polish and work that Blizzard is known for. If you never liked the first two games, you likely won’t like this either. Multiplayer is easy to get going and even easier to play. Loot falls for only you (I definitely don’t miss dropping items on the ground to trade). I can see that crafting system is going to come in handy as well. I have been playing the wizard, who despite looking foppish, is quite powerful. This is especially true in multiplayer. The visuals and music of this game are amazing.
As Joe previously introduced me, I am Sarah, the fire mage. I enjoy numerous hobbies, including but not limited to:video games (RPG’s, MMO’s, FPS’s), Magic the Gathering, and I also dabble in tabletop RPG’s. I enjoy going to conventions, and hopefully I can start attending them more regularly. This is my first blog, and am very excited about it and I hope to bring a female perspective on the geeky things in life. More specific games I am currently playing are, Final Fantasy 13-2, World of Warcraft, Kingdoms of Amalur, and Tales of the Abyss. Also, I am very excited about Diablo 3.
