This is a must watch! Indie Game: The Movie

I saw the link on the Steam Store to pre-order this movie there. That is unusual itself but appropriate given Valve’s embracing of indie games on the Steam service. It looks amazing. Following the making of the games SUPER MEAT BOY, FEZ and BRAID, you see first hand the passion and sacrifice it...

It’s hard to know when it’s a good time to start in on a new comic so to help you out I have listed some jumping on points I have found from personal reads and around the internet. If you are looking to add a little flavor this week but don’t want to heavily invest in trades consider picking one of these up. If you know of something I missed from either 7/4 or the other three previous weeks, hit me up in the comments. If you need to know what the title or character has been up to previously then I highly suggest hitting the wiki over at Comic Vine.

Daredevil #17

Out of all the comics I read, Mark Waid’s run on Daredevil has been consistently new reader friendly. This issue of Daredevil is a special one shot that delves into the history Matt Murdock and Foggy Nelson. Also, if you haven’t been reading Daredevil, it will help set up the upcoming four issue arc. This issue came about when artist Mike Allred (MadmaniZOMBIEwrote a fan letter stating how much he loved the current Daredevil and wanted to draw an issue. He was taken up on that offer and this is the result.

Batwoman #12

Batwoman bucks the trend of not starting a new arc before September’s #0 issues and thankfully gives me another jumping on point to talk about. This issue starts a team up arc with Batwoman and Wonder Woman. I’ve constantly heard good things about both titles but personally there is only so much bat I want to take on at once. I do think the cover of this issue is amazing.

It’s another Tuesday and this is another jumping on points from the previous weeks comics. It’s hard to know when it’s a good time to start in on a new comic so to help you out I have listed some jumping on points I have found from personal reads and around the internet. This isn’t an exhaustive list so if you know of something I missed hit me up in the comments and I will add it to the list. Previous weeks lists are also posted at the bottom. If you are looking to add a little flavor this week but don’t want to heavily invest in trades consider picking one of these up.
Daredevil #14
It has been pretty well established that this run of Daredevil has been new reader friendly from the start. Off the top of my head only #11 and #13 were bad places to start this book. That said I am a little reluctant to recommend #14. Technically speaking this issue stands perfectly well on its own but the problem lies with it being chock full of minor spoilers. If that isn’t a problem then by all means pick this issue up. Daredevil is hands down my favorite comic right now and I would recommend it to anyone.

Excuse me while I gush about Daredevil

I understand that the title of “Best Comic” is mostly a matter of opinion and not everyone has the same tastes, but hopefully I can sway you to agreeing with me when I say the current run of Daredevil is the best comic on shelves today.  There are multiple facets to the genius of this book which is highlighted by its five Eisner nominations. While the covers are something I would be happy to hang on my wall and the interior art is gorgeous and fits the theme of the book perfectly I believe that the lions share of the praise has to go to writer Mark Waid.

What makes this comic genius is Waid’s ability to craft a long form story arc but at the same time tell insular short stories within that arc.
