It’s hard to know when it’s a good time to start in on a new comic so to help you out I have listed some jumping on points I have found from personal reads and around the internet. If you are looking to add a little flavor this week but don’t want to heavily invest in trades consider picking one of these up. If you know of something I missed from either 7/4 or the other three previous weeks, hit me up in the comments. If you need to know what the title or character has been up to previously then I highly suggest hitting the wiki over at Comic Vine.
Over the past few weeks Marvel has been slowly teasing the new direction of the Marvel universe post Avengers vs. X-Men. They have dubbed it Marvel NOW! and have explicitly stated that it isn’t a reboot rather a shaking up of the creative teams on many of Marvel core titles. It will slowly be rolling out from October to February so if you have been wanting to get back in to some of the iconic Marvel characters fresh beginnings are around the corner. Marvel teased the teams for eight titles last week and there is a great article over at Comic Book Movie that gives a quick rundown of all the teasers released so far.
Before I get into this weeks jumping on points I would like to point out that the spidery theme to this week is totally unintentional. On the other hand I would like to say that, in my opinion, thwipt is the greatest onomatopoeia known to man. Now, on to the good stuff.
Ultimate Comics Spider Man #13
It’s the beginning of a new arc where young Miles Morales starts to come out of his shell and interact with the larger Ultimate universe. This has been a pretty well received book over the last year and if you have been wondering what the fuss is all about this may be a good time to hop on board.

Peter Parker: Spider-Man #156.1
This is a one shot Spidey story gearing up for the 50th Spider-Man anniversary. Where Marvel pulled the number 156.1 from is beyond me because the original Peter Parker: Spider Man ran 57 issues from January 1999 to August 2003. It doesn’t look like Marvel plans on making a Peter Parker: Spider Man #157 either. I would love to give you back story for this but trying to google variations of Peter Parker and Spider-Man is making me cross eyed so I’ll leave it up to the review to do the talking for me.Review: iFanboy
