If your like me, you saw this movie years ago and know it’s great! I recently had the chance to re-watch it and it still messed with my mind. The story line is that there are 5 small time criminals thrown in a police line up together. They go on all sorts of misadventures, with only one survivor.   I must add that this movie is very violent.  It has drug deals, bombings and a lot of killing. The survivor is telling the story to the police, and we are never quite sure how much of it is true. Anyone have any opinions, because I thought I knew this movie…

My opinion on a modern classic: The Simpsons or my love affair with little yellow men

I have been putting a lot of thought into The Simpson’s lately, this being my son Nate’s latest kick. I have discovered a few things. First, people look at me really judgmentally when I say I let him watch it, and second it has a lot of values.
Why do people hate The Simpsons? Some people do not like the adult messages contained in a cartoon. But, there adult messages everywhere. I would rather watch the show and be able to discuss this, than have Nate find out for himself. We can listen to the radio and hear them swear but I cannot see a cartoon character moon someone? Does Bart tell off Principal Skinner? Yes. At ten wouldn’t we all have liked to? Does that mean my kid will? Probably not, a whole group of people have raised him better than that. One thing I don’t like is the portrayal of adults as being stupid, but to a know it all kid I guess we are.
There are many things I have grown to like about The Simpsons. I love the loyalty in the show. No mater how things are going family is family. Even the bully, Nelson is extremely loyal to his mom: she is a hot mess. I love that Lisa is smart and opinionated, and even though her parents don’t get her; they support her. I want to to do that for my my little nerdling.

Maybe that is why I love the show, because he loves it. Out of all the crud on television my Nateloves this one. And it could be worse, it could be Power Rangers!!

Update: Nate was introduced to Futurama loves that show just as much. Thought he was going to explode.

I mentioned in my bio that I love psychology.  So, it would make sense that I read a variety of news and articles related to this.  Right now I am re-reading “Death Becomes Them” by Alix Strauss.  This book covers famous people who have committed suicide.  It explains why we should know who the person is and what happened a few days before the act.   Some of the pieces contain additional facts about the method.

I feel this book is powerful and a warning to us all to pay attention!

According to this article at  lightyears.blogs.cnn.com

space really does change the shape of your optic nerve! About half of the astronauts coming back from the space station are experiencing a change in how they see. Scientist think this is due to inter cranial pressure. But it doesn’t affect women. And the men affected are affected in different ways. Some recover, others do not.

Further research must be done to determine how this affects the future of space travel.

Yup, on an HBO documentary kick!  But, I can tell you what it is about.  There is this group of mediums that live about 50 mile south of Buffalo.  They hold meetings and do seances.  Basically, what you would expect mediums to do, only a bunch of them in one place.

If you believe in the after life or not, whatever.  But for me this is was a bunch of people who helped people and looked after each other.  Are some fake, I think maybe.  But I think some of them are motivated by the desire to help people heal.  Healing is always good.

I don’t feel I could mention documentaries without mentioning the Paradise Lost series of movies.  These movies changed how many people viewed documentaries.  The filmmaker’s brought the nation’s attention to the case of three young men accused of murder.

The case is riveting,  the film work stands out.  All in all a good view.
